The recent flooding problems was mostly due to a lack of maintenance and repairs on the 25 Hz generation than due to problems with the pumps.
The denials from Central was mostly due to lack of 25 Hz generation.
It is time to modernize the system. Eliminate the old and inefficient steam turbines. Eliminate the ancient 25 Hz generators. Eliminate the 25 Hz feeders. Add electronics to produce 25 Hz power from 60 cycle Entergy power. Add emergency diesel generators at each pumping plant.
